Burnt Weiners Episode 098 Avenging Spider-Man #1 – Intrepid Escapegoat #2 – Demon Knights #3

Weed is absent, so that means Bo and John should have brought way more funny and instead they just brought way more comics and lice. Cue Sad Trombone.

Burnt Weiners Episode 084 Punisher #1 – Secret Six #36 – Kult #1

Join Bo, Weed and John as they sit down to talk about another week of comics, make fun of each other, and all show their favorite styles of merkins! Oh, look at that large list of comics below . . .

John would like to apologize for his shortcomings on fully understanding Terry Moore’s vision on Rachel Rising #1, and he obviously doesn’t understand how to fully follow a book unless he spoon fed a beginning, middle and ending. ;)

Weiner Roast: Flashpoint #1, Punisher Max #13 and Magus #4

Flashpoint #1 from DC Comics

You have heard every comic nerd give their two cents of all the hype, 800 ties ins and creator choices for Flashpoint, so lets cram one more in your head, about as generic as it can be: it is good, but not great. There is a lot of potential in the world, and overall, I found the kickoff to the series to be intriguing, but lost of me since I don’t care about Flash or Batman as much most DC fanboys. Wonder Woman and her Furies are enticing me quite a bit, and the possibilites of Lois Lane and her resistance force are gonna make me purchase one of the tie ins.

Bottom Line: Like most of the events of the past 5 years, the main title is not where you are going to find the best story. It will be tucked away in the tie-ins, possibly with this series the juicy tales will be in the one-shots. Very cool world setup, lets see what everyone does with it.

Punisher MAX #13 from Marvel

Punisher continues trying to cope with the screwjob that Bullseye did with his head. Frank is not sure if he chose to let his family die that day in the park so he could be brought into another war. Tremendous character piece being done by Jason Aaron, and Steve Dillon knocking it out of the park with the wide arrange of emotions smeared across on the faces of characters with what looks like the greatest of ease. Riveting storyline, and almost purely a character driven piece you know will end with a great amount of bloodshed.

Bottom Line: If you dropped Punisher after Garth Ennis left . . . stop being stupid and go pick this book back up. This could also be a run for people who didn’t think they much cared for Punisher (like Frankencastle), just in the way Frank is being handled. Great for long time fans and newbies.

Magus #4 from 12 Gauge Comics

The penultimate issue of the miniseries giving us a good look at what could happen if magic returned to the real world. Anarchy and deceit start creeping in from almost anyone and everyone across the globe, while a select few fight to keep the peace. Political intrigue, mystery, tons of action and tense showdowns make this series a must pick up when it is collected, especially for the wonderful art from Rebekah Isaacs.

Bottom Line: Put yourself down for Skullkickers Vol 2 and Magus Vol 1 next time you are at the comic shop

Burnt Weiners Episode 069 Punisher Max #12 – Moon Lake – Unwritten #24

Our 69th episode . . . yes . .  please giggle as you need to! The weiners load up their carts full of DC and Marvel this week, but also have a few offerings from IDW, Image and Archaia to round out a healthy comic diet.

Burnt Weiners Episode 062 Wormworld Saga

Checking out a webcomic that has taken the internet world by storm, the Weiners gather around the computer, hold hands and plunge into the lush, vibrant world of Wormworld Saga. Well, we are hoping what they were holding was hands . . .

http://www.wormworldsaga.com/

Steege looks into D&D Dark Sun (IDW) and plays a bit of Fable 3 in his spare time. Wolverine #1000 (Marvel) has some war stories that Bo digs the hell out of before he then dives into the ongoing tale from the red planet Warlord of Mars (Dynamite Entertainment).

Bullseye is figuring out Frank Castle in Punisher Max #10 (Marvel) and John is eating it up as well as the story of magic returning to the real world in Magus #2 (12 Gauge). Weed is loving what he is reading in Birds of Prey #9 (DC) and Heroes For Hire #3 (Marvel), and always, has to throw a shoutout to Unwritten (Vertigo).

Burnt Weiners Episode 043 Unwritten #17

How did Lizzie Hexem actually come to help Tom Taylor? That is the question to be answered by Unwritten #17, but it might not be the same answer for everyone, as the book is in CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE style! Did it work for a series that is not afraid to take chances?

Weed checks out a whole slew of comics including Brightest Day #10, Marvel Universe vs Punisher, DV8 #6, Joe Barbarian, Birds of Prey, Morning Glories, & Hack Slash. He also has a chance to see BOSTON MARRIAGE (after his NYC Marriage).

Steege lets us know of a comic book called Rex Manitu put out by a local artist, and checks in with the comic book version of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. John is still very excited about 1 Month 2 Live and is loving the war comics this month from DC Comics. Bo crushes on Batman before moving onto Hawks of Outremer, Widow Warriors and Kodiak.

Burnt Weiners Episode 040 Marvel Universe VS The Punisher #2

Punisher is once again slaughtering the Marvel Universe, and this time, it is to beat back all the Marvel Heroes and Villians who have caught a slight viral outbreak which makes them eat people . . .

Steege announces his contest . . . a first for Burnt Weiners! Write in to burntweiners@gmail and tell him what movie/game/etc you want to see made into a comic book that hasn’t yet (or for a good long while). You could win a shirt .  .  . previously owned by Steege. Include your shirt size!

The talk then moves onto Dragon Age: Origin and it’s downloadable content. Weed tells us about Unwritten, Dust Wars and some Shadowland stories.

Bo is blown away by Daytripper #9, and then falls back in love with Knights of the Dinner Table. The show is wrapped up when Punisher busts in, blasting the Weiners to death, confusing them with the Great Lakes Avengers.

Burnt Weiners Episode 026 Birds of Prey #1

The Birds Are Back In Town!!! Diving right back into a series a few of the guys have missed, the Weiners check out Birds of Prey #1 and talk about their love of the characters and Gail Simone!

Travis checks out more Orc Stain, Brave and the Bold, and Detective Comics and seems to be diving into comics headfirst. John talks about 9, Punisher Max, forgets to bring up seeing Iron Man 2 (it was good), and really is enjoying Justice League Generation Lost. Weed checks out some more Dr Who, Game of Thrones, Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers, and tells us of some of his adventures in Boston. Bo is checking out more Star Trek, makes John get slapped, insists on talking about some “viewer” mail and talks about the boob front that came rolling in from X-Men Xenogenesis!

CBR – Greatest Punisher Stories Ever Told!

Being a huge Punisher fan, I was wondering how this would turn out . . . and to be honest, I am pretty happy with it. I would have dropped “Circle of Blood” and “Long Cold Dark” for sure, adding “Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe” and a gem of two issue arc that I am blanking on the name, but has Punisher having to team up with a scumbag to fight his way out of an illegal pit fight he drops into on accident. “Slavers” is  great #1 spot, and to be perfectly honest, I am surprised it is up there that far. Oh well, guess others are just as fucked up as me!
