Burnt Weiners C2E2 2011 Special

Chicago welcomes C2E2 2011 and the the guys were in attendance to check it out. They discuss the change in venue, the layout of the show, plenty of the stuff they saw, some of the people they met, the parties they attended and the thousands of faces and how the Henchmen rocked them all!

In our opinion C2E2 was a huge success for any fan wanting a well organized show and great convention experience. Plan for C2E2 2012 people, because we will be there!

Editors Note – Oni Press was indeed there, and was the 3rd booth Bo and John stopped by on Friday, as we picked up a few books from them! DOH!

Click the above photo to be taken to our C2E2 2011 photo gallery to check out plenty of the convention pics!

The photo above was shot at Reggie’s where Adam Warrock destroyed the stage with his hip hop styling of some serious nerdcore! Also joining us in the booth is Matt Sardo, who you may recall from the awesome zombie themed commercial for his comic book store The Comic Vault, that was so gorgeously violent that AMC would not allow it to be aired during The Walking Dead!

Saturday at C2E2

Saturday was crazy busy at the convention! The place filled up, and while it made getting around a bit more difficult, most area of the con were laid out very well to aid in the flow of people. A few mass pileups in artists alleys and close to signing areas did occur, but I would consider them very minor compared to past convention experience I have. All in all a very well laid out show, so kudos to the organizers!

Some highlights from Saturday for the Burnt Weiner crew:

- The gaming area EXPLODED on Saturday and was jam packed full of all sorts of players. Tabletop gamers flooded the place to play Magic, D&D dungeon crawls and even Heroclix. I (John) entered into the Heroclix tournament and pulled some pretty good figs and had three great games, but just couldn’t get that last win to cinch the tournament. My final opponent was a great player and just crunched me! I have to give him major props for not getting up on points and then running his team, as he stayed in to duke it out to remove my team from the map, even though losing a couple rolls of the dice could have cost him big time.

- Got to check out the BOY WONDER screening and enjoyed it quite a bit. There was some things I really liked about it, and a few I didn’t, but we will talk more about that on the show. All in all I suggest checking it out.

- Bo and Weed watched the costume contest, raided the comic bins, and got some sweet prints and sketches! There are also rumors that Burnt Weiners is now not allowed within 500 feet of Brian Michael Bendis, but we cannot comment at this time on the matter.

No, seriously . . . this happened

Unshaven Comics is some seriously awesome guys with nifty comics!

A shot of part of the gaming area . . . everyone seemed showered and pumped!

Like peanut butter and jelly . . . they were meant to be together

Friday at C2E2

Just a quick check in, we will have further discussion after we get back about how incredibly awesome that C2E2 is this year! Here are a few of the highlights just from Friday:

- Hit an awesome after party thrown by the Nerd City guys

- Hit a comedy show featuring Patton Oswalt (at the con)

- Bo saw a huge guy biff it HARD!

- The gaming area is incredibly chilled and laid back and a very cool place to hang out. Tons of board games to sample and plenty of dungeon delves to join in. There was also a Heroclix tournament on Friday that a couple of the people we went with got to participate in. Hopefully we will see more of the tables full these next two days, as I would like to see it return next year.

Bo finally gets through to John and teaches him the alphabet past "M"

Weed is worthy!!!

C2E2 Bound!

Today we leave for C2E2 in Chicago (and where the hell will you people be?), and to make sure that the pets behave while we are gone, we had to resort to how our parents threatened us when they went away on trips and didn’t want us to have parties.

Awwww, what a cute kitty with his paws in the air! Just wanna hug’em forever!

Boy Wonder Trailer

Looking forward to seeing this at C2E2, as there will be a panel showing on Saturday at the convention. Check it out!

In this riveting and gritty psychological-thriller, a young Brooklyn boy witnesses the brutal murder of his mother and grows up obsessed with finding her killer. Thus begins his life as a quiet, straight-A student by day and a self-appointed hero at night. But what is a real hero? And who decides what is right or wrong? As the boundaries blur, Sean’s dual life wears on his psyche and his two worlds careen dangerously close to colliding. Like a graphic novel you can’t put down, Boy Wonder challenges morality, distorting perceptions of what is right and what is justified, as it races to its shocking conclusion.

Burnt Weiners Episode 054 Heroes For Hire #1

Misty Knight is getting the band back together . . . and the Weiners all try out for the bass spot! Talking about a book they had been looking to for some time (well, since they read about it on the internet box and/or Previews), will everyone want to hire or fire these heroes? Check it out!

Weed, John and Bo all gush a bit about how much they love their monthly dose of Secret Six (DC), before Weed goes on to tell us about his feelings of the wrap up on Shadowland (Marvel), the fun of Warriors Three (Marvel) and how he is dismissing the latest Buffy stories from Darkhorse from his perception of the series. Steege tells of his pitch invasion into the tabletop world of Bloodbowl and how he hates his local internet provider!

Bo swings in to talk about Amazing Spider-Man (Marvel), and his anticpation of how awesome C2E2 2011 could be and some of the guests announced. John recommends Supergod (Avatar Press) from Warren Ellis and touches upon Walking Dead on AMC.

CBR – Ten Views On C2E2

10 Views on C2E2 – Comic Book Resources

Comic Book Resources has a great articles where they ask some of the comic book company execs that were there for C2E2 their thoughts on the event, and for the most part in my opinion many of them were spot on in their judgment, and very, very honest. The potential for the show in the future is huge, especially if companies and fans keep throwing support behind it. I loved the venue they chose to host it, it was supported by a ton of my favorite companies and my favorite groups, and they really catered to everyone having a good time. There were a ton of a panels (actually, maybe a few too many from the vendor viewpoint that kept many people off the floor most of the weekend) and the guest list was impressive.

C2E2 really has a chance to be something great in a few short years, and I for one will be pushing it hard and I hope other fans and companies do as well!

Burnt Weiners @ C2E2

We have some photos and other goodies to share from C2E2 this past weekend, but due to John being a bit of dummy and dropping his laptop right as he got home, they might be a couple days out. This will also put our podcast out a few days late! DOH!

Bo took a lot of great T&A shots at the con being the true pervert he is, so look forward to some of that eye goodness!

Burnt Weiners Episode 022 Turf #1

The Weiners check out Turf #1 and are caught in a crossifre of many words and genres! Travis gets slapped by Bo for not being able to count jellybeans. John is excited for X-Men Second Coming and Atomic Robo, Travis gushes a bit about Sherlock Holmes and The Fourth Kind, Bo continues on his Trek while everyone talks like Worf and even a bit like Arnie, the talk moves to Hackmaster and Fudge, and Weed checked out some Anime kids. More talk about the awesome artwork of Eric Gapstur and the upcoming awesomeness of C2E2!
