The boys over at EARTH 2 PODCAST have started what I think is a very hilarious webcomic called Boozehounds! What else would it be about besides talking heads at a bar if it wasn’t from that gang

Oooooooo spoooooooky! Some of our friends over at Tales From The Parent’s Basement decided to do a fun podcast centering on horror films, in particular some of the offerings from British film makers over the years! It looks like once a month they will have a new podcast featuring two movies which they announced a month prior, so the listeners can also have a chance to watch the films and participate. Pretty nifty idea, and I will be trying to get my hands on a few of those films to give them a watch!
Films for next month: The Mummy (Hammer, 1959), The Blood On Satan’s Claw (Tigon, 1970)

Astronomy Cast takes a fact-based journey through the cosmos as it offers listeners weekly discussions on astronomical topics ranging from planets to cosmology. Hosted by Fraser Cain (Universe Today) and Dr. Pamela L. Gay (SIUE), this show brings the questions of an avid astronomy lover direct to an astronomer. Together Fraser and Pamela explore what is known and being discovered about the universe around us.
A wonderful podcast about both current and past astrology news and history. I have been catching up with their shows recently, and really enjoy the presentation of the topics on this show. Know very little about Astronomy? They explain key points very fluidly without stepping out of the current conversation so it doesn’t seem like they are playing catchup for listeners with some knowledge of the subject, but successfully enough to keep newbies from feeling lost.
The little game I like to play while listening is “heard this on Star Trek before” where obviously, growing up in the 80′s, I watched a lot of Star Trek The Next Generation and it rooted a lot of my interest into not only science fiction, but also the real field of Astronomy. But it is very fun to hear the hosts talk about something you may recall from a movie or Star Trek episode and finally go “ahhh, can’t wait to see that episode again with this knowledge”. So, yes, I am a huge dork in the respect.
Seriously though, give them a listen if you have even a small interest in Astronomy, even if it is tied to that as loosely as you liked the Ender’s Game series
A buddy of mine shot me a link over to this podcast earlier this week as we both are guys who enjoy reading both about true accounts of history and historical fiction, plopping down in front of the TV to watch PBS or History Channel, and all sorts of other things you associate with 60 year old men who wear slippers and drink brandy.
Seriously though, this is one finely produced podcast if you have any interest in knowing a whole lot more of the Roman Empire in detail. Episodes are broken down by time periods and/or subjects, and the host of the show Mike does a great job of delivering interesting accounts of what would have been going on.
From the site:
Mike Duncan grew up outside of Seattle, WA and has a degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Western Washington University. His deep and abiding love for Roman history is matched only by his deep and abiding love for Seattle Mariners baseball. He recently married and now lives in Austin, TX.
