Burnt Weiners Episode 041 Justice League Generation Lost #8

September 1st, 2010 by John

Max Lord is up to his old tricks again, but now, nobody but the Justice Weiners can stop him! They do this by obviously reading the latest issue of Justice League Generation Lost, all while balancing flaming barrels upon their chins. Please note John does not gush the whole entire show over a team he loves, instead, he shows his love through interpretive dance (not available on MP3 download).

Weed gets his much needed dose of Moon Knight this month with a Shadowland tie in, and talks a little bit about Green Arrow. Steege loves the 90 minute chunks of Elemental War of Magic he gets to play after be very lucky in snagging the super hot IDW comic Jurassic Park (note sarcasm)

John does finally get a chance to gush, and he does so with Batgirl, and then does even more so with Revolver (Vertigo), the new hardcover from Matt Kindt (Superspy). Bo wraps the show up with some Punisher and Batman talk.

Be sure to stick around after the ending music (which you should always anyways) for the hot new song the Weiners made that will be tearing up the charts, and Bo’s dog getting a little bit sick.

Contest: Win a Free Used Shirt!

August 24th, 2010 by John

No honestly, he actually dresses like this . . .Want to be all sorts of awesome like Steege is? Want to win a shirt he has worn and add it to your collection? Want me to stop asking questions and just tell you what you need to know to have soiled, articles of clothing from this man?

We will be taking submissions until September 10th, 2010. Just write burntweiners@gmail.com with your idea for “Stuff That Needs To Be Other Stuff”, referring to a movie, game, TV show, or other medium item you want turned into a comic book. Want to tell us Sanford and Son would make an awesome BOOM studios comic? Think there is so much more they could have done with Saving Private Ryan that it deserves some side stories to be told? Saddened to never have seen the Atari classic Joust in sweet 32 page (with ads) format?

What will you win if you are chosen? Steege will dig into his closet, find a shirt that will fit you and mail it on off to you. It won’t be the sweet Cannibal Corpse shirt he is wearing in the pic to the side here, but it will indeed be a real gem. The t-shirt will be washed . . . promise!

So once again, email us at burntweiners@gmail.com, tell us what you want turned into a comic, and indicate a size for a shirt you wear. If we choose you, we will email you for a shipping address, and then you are only days away from adorning your body with a shirt that Goodwill might be embarrassed to hang on it’s racks!

Burnt Weiners Episode 039 Morning Glories #1

August 16th, 2010 by John

Is it possible for the Weiners to put their plans for world domination on hold and check out the kick off issue to Morning Glories from Image Comics? The answer is probably “no”, but come check out them out anyways!

The guys also get a lot of listener feedback and share their thoughts on what cartoons they wish would be given a second chance and return to TV today. Captain Planet? He-Man? Dennis The Menace?

Steege and John checked out Scott Pilgrim (along with every other damn nerd across the country), and realize the main character might be a bit of a feminene hygeine product.

Weed checks out the new D&D comic, Bo checks out The Buzzard and Hawks of Outremer, and Steege checks out a few movies, Paycheck and The Place Promised In Our Early Days.

Steege checks out some more Star Wars, Castlevania and Blood Bowl, Adel reads Farhenheit 451 only to spite John, Weed checks a ton of comics like Secret Six, Brightest Day and Marvel Vs The Punisher Universe. Weed checks out a Angel (IDW), X-Men and a graphic novel based on the music work of The Magic Flute, before handing it off to John who tells us a bit about A Friendly Game (SLG) and how Mondo Urbano (Oni Press) kicked his buttocks!

Guest to the show Tyler talks about Walking Dead, John Wilkes Booth and the secret of time travel locked in Swan Lake. Bo gets really excited for The Buzzard (Dark Horse) and not as excited for The Scourge (Aspen). Steege enjoys some alone time with a Sarah Palin comic from Antartic Press!

The show wraps up with an alien invasion . . . or was it a train robbery? Who knows, who care, who is still reading this?

John couldn’t check anything out this week other than news from .SDCC, and hits some of the hot topics and announcments form the con!

July 4th, 2010 by John

The Weiners take a look at a series that will unfortunately be ending in a few months, the critically acclaimed Unknown Soldier from Vertigo comics. This issue in particular blows them away . . . no pun intended as it focuses on the firearm AK-47.

Steege gets excited for the new Bloodbowl expansion for PC, and tells us about another excellent podcast focusing on the Bloodbowl board game and videogame, Three Die Block! Check out their podcasts here:

John is so very excited about where Zatanna (DC) and 7 Pyschopaths (Boom) and how quickly crazy people can turn on you! Bo and John disagree on the newest Green Arrow comic book, and then Bo once again squeals like a little girl about how goo The Tick (New England) is and talks about some creepy anatomy of the comic!

Burnt Weiners Episode 028 Thanos Imperative Ignition

June 1st, 2010 by John

It looks like there might be a showdown between Magus and Thanos and the Weiners want to see the clash of those titans! But they are less than thrilled at the reprinting of old comics as backups in their comics.

John talks about Green Lantern Corp and how he owes Tony Bedard an apology, Wyatt Earp (Radical), Seven Soldiers (Boom), JL Generation Lost (DC), and the greatness of Unknown Soldier. Travis brings up a metal show that some of the Weiners were involved with, and his terrible shirt choice.

Weed brings out his naughty and nice list and talks about Gi Joe (IDW), Angel (IDW), DV8 Gods and Monsters (Wildstorm), Secret Six (DC), a little bit about playing some VS games against THE RING HAS CHOSEN guys, Welcome to Tranquility(Wildstorm, and Game of Thrones just before slipping in some LOST talk. Then we all have to shell out money as Travis keeps singing very expensive songs we have to pay for the rights for.

Bo is working on getting caught up on Ultimate Spider-Man and tells us all about it befoe we find a present left from Steege which we hope he tells us about on the next show.
