Burnt Weiners Episode 117 Mind Mgmt – Saucer County – Birds of Prey
Bo is gone, but that just means Weed and John get to talk about some of the sexier comics that prude Bo just will not allow them to talk about! Also, there is a very good chance that ponies will be offended by this episode.

So I was going to do a full write up this week since I am taking the next week off , but I am not there are only two things that are sticking out to me right now and that’s what I want to point to you. Now yes I am taking next week off I am busy working the new job, I can’t afford a lot of books this week, and I’m taking a trip with the wife.
Yes I know comic nerd don’t have girls, jobs, takes trips other than cons, or budget concerns I’m a phony well here’s the harsh truth boys and girls that not a comic nerd it’s a myth perpetrated by the evil media. I mean come on who is like that no one I mean ………….hrmm well I guess John from the podcast crew is that way but I swear no one else.
What to look for the week of the 23rd.

Danger Club #2 $2.99

So I already talked about book one and loved it, but here we are again .This book stuck with me all week like a great song stuck in your head you can’t let go. First the cover is fantastic , portraying Yoshimi going back home as a fugitive and fighting her way out.
You see the kids that think they are going to fix the world with all the heroes gone they are fugitives. Think Batman but the cops are completely useless . I really want this book to succeed because there is a lot of cool themes going on. The art is fantastic I mentioned on Twitter this week (@lunchbox700 ) that the cover and first few pages stick with you and you just can’t let go. Then you have to read it again because of cool stuff you missed like the fact that Yoshimi is real small which makes it that much more fun. Sometimes writers can pop out a great first book but then fade quick, but not here Walker is building a world and I am buying a top floor condo to watch it
That’s it this week there was some good stuff this week another book that I will single out just for a bit is City in the Desert. This is a graphic novel that is releasing in parts digitally and how good is it well I am buying the book when it comes out to that’s how good it is. I really get hooked on Writer/Artist stuff and Moro Rogers made a cool story with art that is not over ambitious but still emotes really well please check it out if you can. That’s this kids have a good one and see you in a few weeks.

Tales From The Parents Basement – Episode 3 – John Guests
John shows up on another podcast! Sorry for the crappy audio (and a bit out of sync), there were some problems with recording on their end.

[podcast]http://traffic.libsyn.com/parentsbasement/TPB_New_3.mp3[/podcast]
Welcome to episode 3 of our relaunch! This week we have a longtime buddy join us in Ryan’s absence. John, one of the hosts from the Burnt Weiners podcast steps in to make sure we get that explicit iTunes rating. We talk some news including Jamie Rich’s new project Bobby Pins and Mary Janes which is his new serialized novel and we talk about some other things we have been reading.
You can find John’s podcast at burntweiners.com

Sullivan’s Sluggers – Baseball Horror!
This book is going to be Insane! Click here to check out the Kickstarter!
Coming from the writer of Gladstone’s School For World Conquerers Mark Andrew Smith and the crazy bastard behind Orc Stain James Stokoe! We on the show love both series a ton, so this is a no brainer to pick this crazy titel up. I didn’t know I was missing a horror sports title on my shelf, but these guys did and created something to fill it.
Long past their former glory, the minor league Sluggers get an invitation to play a baseball game in a cursed small town. After the 7th inning stretch, the sun goes down, and the dysfunctional teammates find themselves fighting for their lives against a town of flesh-eating monsters!
Now, it’s up to coach Casey Sullivan to help his team escape from being the next dish in the town’s terrifying feeding frenzy!
Eisner & Harvey Award-winning graphic novel author Mark Andrew Smith joins forces with Eisner nominated illustrator James Stokoe for a gripping roller coaster of a graphic novel, packed with shocks, gore, and screamingly outrageous humor, when America’s Favorite Past Time becomes one team’s ultimate nightmare!

Here we are another week and a slightly more positive one at that (heads up AvX is right around the corner, and I can’t promise I’ll stay positive. I am going to do a writeup for this book eventually but a heads up I got a preview copy of Michael Moreci’s Hoax Hunter #1 and it is great. It’s already been solicited for July and fully expect you to add it to your pull list.
Coming out May 16th
City in the Dessert #1 $2.99
http://www.comixology.com/City-in-the-Desert-1/digital-comic/DIG001481
I might be the only one looking forward to this book, but again cheap, #1, lots of pages wins again. This book is about a monster hunter and his assistant are out of the job because all the monsters are gone , or are they. This seems so cool to me and I love stuff that no one else knows about and this Archaia book might be it.
Pick of the week :
Frankenstein Alive, Alive #1 #3.99
Written by: Steve Niles
Art by: Bernie Wrightson
http://www.comixology.com/Frankenstein-Alive-Alive-1/digital-comic/MAR120318
The name alone had me convinced but it turned out to be a good book. A warning this is a large book but some of it is back story at the end of the book. This picks of after the novel, Art by Wrightson 30 years after his previous foray and it is so cool the black and white is perfect for this book. This isn’t the well known version of Frankenstein this is a cast off freak traveling with the circus trying to deal with his inner demons, and his creator trying to kill him with no luck.
There is a lot of words but that’s ok we are all at least semi literate write? I suggest this to most readers but one word of warning this panel work does not work that great in the digital format I loved it but think works better as a print version.
Quick hit:
Ultimate Comics X-Men #11 $3.99
Written by: Nick Spencer
Art by : Paco Medina
http://www.comixology.com/Ultimate-Comics-X-Men-11/digital-comic/MAR120563
This book is not something I’ve read on a regular basis but wanted to get that bad taste out of my mouth from last week. This obviously does not coincide with the current event that shall not be named. The story is not complicated the Sentinels are killing everyone and everyone is trying to defend the normies from them. Mayhem ensues so what else do you need besides ass kickery . This book suffers from a Similar problem as Frankenstein some of the panel work does not work so well digital , but I really dug the story and art so I may be on the bandwagon along with Ultimate Ultimate.
That’s all I have this week pretty simple week for me trying to budget for the likes Danger Club #2 and Americas got Powers #2 which are must haves. Remember kids to listen to The Burntweiners Podcast John and Bo suck less and less each week, and of course Weed rules. Follow me on Twitter @lunchbox700 and tell me I suck. Also remember to listen The Pull List Podcast on Wednesday very supportive and good comic reviews.
Burnt Weiners Episode 115 Marvel Zombies – Fury – Demon Nights
Recorded on Mother’s Day, this very special episode has Weed flown in fresh from the east coast, fully shelled and plated with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of butter. Served with a never-ending supply of delicious, flaky dinner rolls.

Well I hope you are ready for the alternate universe me which is mostly negative and hates everything (so like every other kid on the interest right now). So here it is this weeks edition brought to you by Bizarro Superman, Daken, Sabretooth, and every other lame evil facsimile .
Coming out 05/09/12
Frankenstein Alive, Alive #1 $3.99
http://www.comixology.com/Frankenstein-Alive-Alive-1/digital-comic/MAR120318
Why this book? Easy what better metaphor for my foul mood that is so filled with hate. I mean it’s Frankenstein this is perfect I defy you to pick something better….. Damnit I suppose maybe Incredible Hulk would be better, or of course Dr. Jekyll Mr Hyde . Stupid , Stupid excuse me I turned in to Chris Farley there for a second there I’m better now This books looks really cool, and I like old stories that don’t stray wildly from the original material.
Higher Earth #1 $0.99
http://www.comixology.com/Higher-Earth-1/digital-comic/MAR120853
I know very little about this book but you know the rules a buck, #1 , lots of pages and I am a faithful zombie that gives you my money. This book seems to be about hundreds of alternate timelines, and alternate universes but there is one Earth rules them all. That sounds very cool to me and I am sold.
Pick of the Week:
Avengers vs X-Men #3 $3.99
Written by : Ed Brubaker
Art by: John Romita jr(pencils) , Scott Hanna (inks)
http://www.comixology.com/Avengers-vs-X-Men-3-of-12/digital-comic/MAR120530
Woo a team up book that sucks crazy right absolutely unheard of. I’m not sorry this book sucks , I have to be completely honest I do not pay for this book but get to read it because of awesome people who are reading it and hook me up with the code. Why I am telling you this well because I spent a lot of time thinking about not redeeming the code that’s how bad this has been.
The art is so inconsistent and bad. Of 24 pages there is maybe ten panels that look cool the rest garbage and rushed. It’s a team up book and I want to see all these characters fighting and doing cool shit, but that’s not happening because the characters look like those stuffed buddy dolls of characters with no details and all smiley and limited color palette.
If you like books that have characters talking about conversations they weren’t part of nor could hear, or references to things that aren’t represented on any panel at all this books for you. I’m so mad even writing about this book the problem with digital I can’t throw this piece of crap away.
Alternate , alternate pick of the week :
Epic Kill #1 #2.99
Written & art by: Raffele Ienco
If you remember I had reservations of this book last week. Over sexualizing the story , but was hoping it would be more like Leon (The Proffessonal) . Well that’s not what we got we instead got an uninspired Kill Bill (which I hated) and not only is uninspired but it doesn’t work .
Let me lay it out for you scantily clad girl (worse part other girls not dressed slutty ) that can kick ass, all guards in the world are gross and borderline pedohiles she gets her revenge . She then is eventually going to kill the President who is trying to kill her. Seriously I know it’s a fine line but this story could be good but instead feels lazy and geared to pervs who can’t admit they are perverts (hmm I should have John read this book ) . Don’t bother with this book no desire for #2 .
Ok I think I drank the potion and Hulk rage subsiding a little bit. If you want a good book this week check out Dorothy of OZ prequel #2 and also listen to the Burntweiners pod because the guys have some cool stuff this week and all better choices. Also free this week FCBD stuff , Atomic Robo, Bad Medicine , Spiderman season 1 (full version went digital on the 9th) , and also Phonogram 2 : The singles club Issue #1 which I’ve heard good things) Let me know I’m an idiot or just to see me complain about other media on twitter @lunchbox700 .
Burntweiners: A true C2E2 story – From MangamanX

1. MangamanX was not there
2. John(me) did not actually shit himself, he was just accused of this
3. YOU SHIT YOURSELF!
Yep.
