A buddy of mine shot me a link over to this podcast earlier this week as we both are guys who enjoy reading both about true accounts of history and historical fiction, plopping down in front of the TV to watch PBS or History Channel, and all sorts of other things you associate with 60 year old men who wear slippers and drink brandy.
Seriously though, this is one finely produced podcast if you have any interest in knowing a whole lot more of the Roman Empire in detail. Episodes are broken down by time periods and/or subjects, and the host of the show Mike does a great job of delivering interesting accounts of what would have been going on.
From the site:
Mike Duncan grew up outside of Seattle, WA and has a degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Western Washington University. His deep and abiding love for Roman history is matched only by his deep and abiding love for Seattle Mariners baseball. He recently married and now lives in Austin, TX.

Well, we thought he was lying to us, but our buddy Brad is really in a full length feature film. He is the main character in the film (the guy doing the voiceover and looking super sexy in the muscle shirts). I cannot wait for all the tail this will bring thee Burnt Weiners crew . . . WHAT?!?!?! NO TAIL?!?!!?

It looks like the gang have a new sponsor for their show which opens the show, before the Weiners talk about their light week of comics. Very few comics, but very good comics! But they cannot help getting way off topic every possible chance . . .

Visit the guys over at Virtual Shackles . . . . always some great nerd humor coming from them! Like below with their obvious understanding of how video game racing really works:
Just a reminder that we are only a couple weeks out from FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! To find a comic shop near you, call 1-888-comicbook
Looks like Heroclix will be going online very soon . . .
HeroClix Online (HCO) is what we call a “transliteration” – a literal translation of the tabletop game. Every effort has been made to make sure the two platforms operate in parallel. Of course, there are differences, such as -
1: The Maps are rendered in a beautiful 3-D space
2: Rules are enforced by the computer – you can play poorly but you can’t play incorrectly (except for some bugs right now)
3: Sanctioned (prize bearing tournaments) have a chess clock feature
4: No more tackle boxes – Some will love it, some will hate it!
5: Sound effects!
Before you get started, realize that you are about to play HeroClix an entirely new way. For starters, there is a “camera” to help you manage your view of the board. We think the camera works great but it did take some time to get .
And remember, HeroClix Online is not intended as a replacement for the tabletop experience, rather, it is a platform that is designed to make HeroClix even more convenient for players around the world to share their love of the game on a platform that fits into their busy lives.
Think about it; HeroClix games available 24/7, full rules enforcement, a virtual judge “at your table”, and you can play with folks all over the world!
HeroClix Online represents everything you love about the tabletop experience: maps, strategy, your favorite figures, and more. Assemble your teams and do battle in the digital arena today!
Best use of Thor toys I have ever seen . . . except for maybe that one in that porno
Always nice to hear when someone who was doing something so right can come back to finish their work, and it is happening at Dynamite with Matt Wagner returning to Zorro. Haven’t had a chance to read it all, but what I did was fantastic and look forward to checking it all out.
THE END BEGINS HERE AS ZORRO RIDES AGAIN!
April 14, 2011, Runnemede, NJ – The one and only Matt (MAGE, GRENDEL) Wagner returns to conclude his epic story of Zorro! We return to the story as Alejeandro de la Vega finds out that his son, Don Diego, is pulling double-duty as Zorro. How will this affect Zorro’s continuing crusade against the alcalde of Los Angeles, Luis Quintero? Find out in ZORRO RIDES AGAIN #1 coming this July from Dynamite Entertainment!
“It’s a special joy for me to return to the world and adventures of America’s first costumed adventurer-the original archetype of the modern superhero-ZORRO,” says writer Matt Wagner “As longtime readers know, we left the narrative of the previous Zorro series on a bit of a cliffhanger and now that storyline finally comes to its exciting fruition. These next two storylines not only introduce some major new characters but also represent significant and catastrophic changes in Zorro’s world-events that cause him to call question everything he does and everything for which he stands. There’re thrilling times ahead as ZORRO RIDES AGAIN!”
“From cover to script to everything in between, Matt has proven himself over and over again with his thrilling, pulp-y and defining take on Zorro,” says Dynamite Editor Joe Rybandt. ”We’re pairing him up for Zorro Rides Again with artist Esteve Pols, who’s kicking the dust off his boots from the Lone Ranger/Zorro cross-over. Together, they’re going to shake up Zorro’s world as you’ve never seen before.”

So the visuals of this game intrigue me with the way it looks like Tron meets 300 meets Mulan. Not sure about the play style based on the couple trailers I have seen, but it would be really cool in that department as well. Having a co-op campaign is always a big plus as well.

Our 69th episode . . . yes . . please giggle as you need to! The weiners load up their carts full of DC and Marvel this week, but also have a few offerings from IDW, Image and Archaia to round out a healthy comic diet.
